Philosophy
With the choice of the name “Harmonia Kobe” we would like to impress in the very name of our school the core of our pedagogy and vision of the musical/artistic education.
Thanks to its enormous communicative potential, Music can overcome any border, differences in age, cultural gaps.
Therefore, through the study and practice of the Classical Music, Harmonia Kobe wishes to promote tolerance, understanding and cooperation between different people and cultures.
In our school we want students to learn the amazing power of this medium, and to become able to use it for a better life quality and, as a final goal, for a better society.
Kobe, for its history and international attitude, is to us the natural environment where to establish, here in Japan, a cultural-artistic project powered by a truly educational and creative spirit.
Mission
The school strives to offer the chance for a classical music education free from any academic prejudice, without the need of intermediates, so to say, like “directly from the source”.
HK wants to offer a real image of the international standard of making music, away from any artificiality or twisting.
For this reason our teachers are carefully selected among people with strong international background, as well as a deep knowledge and respect for the Japanese cultural and social environment.
At the centre of HK educational efforts are the Students and their need to develop capacities according to their talents and ambitions.
Our belief is that the study of music should not result in a mere acquisition of skills and accomplishments, but foster the development of student’s own individuality.
For this reasons the human side of the teaching is strongly emphasised, and creativity is encouraged as the very core of the process of music/art making.
HK will always care to offer focused information, advice and support throughout the all phases of musical/artistic education of the pupils.
